COLUMBUS, Neb. - Scammers are making a bad situation even worse. The Nebraska Public Power District says scammers are preying on people after the bitter cold we experienced earlier this week.
Media Relations Specialist Grant Otten told KXCV/KRNW that scammers are pretending to be bill collectors and threatening to shut off power to customers unless they give them money, as well as another surprising tactic.
Otten recommends if you get a scam call, you writer down their number and call police.
